Defense Minister Peter Dutton has branded the deployment of a Chinese warship as a show of aggression. The vessel – reportedly with spying capabilities – moved close to military locations.
The Dongdiao Class Auxiliary Intelligence ship has apparently been roaming Australia’s coastline for the past week, amidst heightened tensions between Canberra and Beijing over China’s pact with the Solomon Islands.
Dutton rejected suggestions the timing of his announcement was connected to the country’s upcoming general election in 8 days time.
